Tell me sum’n, I’m more into jeans and long sleeved shirts whenever I’m going out (clubbin’ or whatever)….trying the sophisticated look y’kno. I used to wear polo shirts exclusively but now I’ve branched off into wearing more t-shirts for just going on the road. So yeh…wat’s fashionable in the world of dress shirts? Plaid? stripes? solid colors?

Very good question! Its hard to shop for you men! Seemingly, male fashion evolves at a much slower pace than women. The variations are rarely humongous but the subtle differences make or break a design! I’ve been researching this question all day and found very few results when it comes to new trends in the male fashion world. So what I did instead was to just browse the various brands that I could remember and see what new designs they had to offer. I saw nothing "new" or nothing really "trendy" but what I found were a few classic designs that will always work for parties or chilling. The transition from tees to button downs is one I think most men, or at least most men that are style-aware, go through. At some point they grow up, leaving the all-occasion t-shirt game behind and stepping up to a classier, more mature look. Big man ting! I’m glad GP has made the step over, most t-shirts are definitely for errands and game nights.

Browsing through department store catalogs though I realised that I had definitely challenged myself taking on this question. I’m lucky enough however to have one very fashionable male in my life and I thought to myself, where would he look? Then like the heavens opening up and the showers sprinkling down, I remembered, Guess! He has alot of Guess clothing and I now see the reason why. Guess pays great attention to detailing and fabrics to bring what could have been a plain shirt, to a unique and stylish one. AND they’re not all bank breaking!

So to answer your question GP, plaids are a bit country, stripes were in a few seasons ago but mainly in the form of polo shirts, and since we are leaving that behind, I present you with my favorites from Guess.com It was a pleasure doing the research for this article, these models are hot! Gentlemen, please let me know if these choices were appreciated. I still threw in a one t-shirt cus you know some are hotter than regular tees. Special mention of the first shirt in the collage above, it is from Jamaican fashion designer Bill Edwards. Stay tuned to FOS for more on that.

keep the site one place nuh meng!

    Anyway, versatility dudes

I don’t like wearing l/s shirts without a blazer so I roll my sleeves up … but the key is to look comfortable in whatever you wear and don’t be predictable.

and with that said, I’m gone to the club, in a l/s shirt…. w/ the sleeves rolled up

    Peace

    Sincerely yours,
    Willard to the …

  3. Yeah man, I like it.

The only thing I’m unsure about is the amount of white in the background … past that? it’s cool

Post more men-related articles and you’ll see mehere a bit more often. If you could did a couple “style laws” for the fellows that would be a good look. I like reading such things from a woman’s perspective.

  4. It would also be good if there was a way of distinguising between the comments, maybe different colour fonts …

  5. Yup.. I’m feelin this site, Irie.. but u been known that.
On a real, i’ve always been partial to those wrap dresses, I got 2 the other day, haven’t had the chance to wear them tho, but I’m thinking of shoes to go with them. I can honestly say, I have little, make that NO fashion sense, so my daily garb is jeans, t-shirt and sandals/sneakers/boots depending on the weather.

But this site it tight tho.. makes a sister interested on teh real.

Still want see some dreadlocks on the pages tho, wah gwaan?

    Wellreach

  7. Thanks much City Girl

  8. Well Just to add to the blog..
Notice the shirts have a certain cut to it..
Its not the usual straight shirts that give you the boxy look
But for d in-shape men..the slight curve in the sides to get that fitted look is more the style of today!
