My First Site Review!

Apr 12th, 2008 | By Irie Diva | Category: FOS News and Press

That I know about anyway! Silicon Caribe has reviewed my site against the competition out there and points out that in the world of internet, content will always be king! They describe good content as "Good content will show originality, personality, flavour and be relevant to the individuals visiting the site. It will be interesting and very informative" and they praise me on my vast expanse and variety of content and how often I update, but they gave me a thumbs down when it came to my layout. They say my content is " thrown together in a manner where site readers have to fight to figure out where to start because the site is jarring" !!! Well at least I’m not " boring and not nearly as dynamic as" I could be! (That’s what they had to say about the competition)

I really thought with the move from my blog layout to this more magazine-styled layout, I had nipped the bad organization bit in the butt. Most of my loyal readers have commented just how fabulous this new layout is. I really am not sure if Silicon Caribe is even judging me on this new layout or my last. While I await an answer on that question however, of course I had to ask you, my loyal readers, what y’all really think. I mean, you’re the ones who are reading the stuff…lemme know if its jarring to read!!! Lol ok seriously guys, I’m all ears. Anything that bothers you in the current layout or anything you see that can definitely use some improvement, holla at ya girl and I’ll do my best! If you chose option 3 in the poll be sure to leave suggestions in the comments area.

Are you starting to feel the high gladiators too?

  1. Irie Diva,
Congratulations and I like the new layout!
    P. S. I see you been stirring the pot for me on the Red Stripe post! LOL! Thanks! :)

  2. Here’s a question to consider: Have you ever seen what the person who runs Siliconcaribe LOOKS like?

I think if you knew you might not be so concerned about her opinions on fashion.

  3. @ Mrs YFA: no problem :D

@ ugly ingrid: ouch! dont me so mean! lol, all feedback is welcomed, not all will affect the site though, i’m more concerned with what my loyal fashionistas have to say than what a more techie site says cus hey, y’all do keep coming back, so thats why i’ve posed the question to you guys. thanks for being a visitor here! :)

  4. wow Ingrid you guys play dirty around here, low blow

  5. ROTFLMAO..but they can;t even do “techie” right.

Look at this foolishness from the same article : “What is Good Content? The information on a website is what is called Content.”

DUUUUUH….Gee how informative. We didn’t know that! Next they will tell us ” A Mouse is a pointing device that we masturbate with.”

    Stupid nerds

  6. and look at THEIR site…jumbled..ugly…cheezy graphics ( my little brother can do better with windows PAINT!)…bad spelling. recycled articles from anything she can find about MACS.

total crap. 1 out of 10 so who are they to be talkin..?

  7. Ugly has a point. What is there on “Siliconcarib” that’s of any use to anyone who didn’t discover the internet yesterday?

All it looks like to me is a big attempt at collecting pennies from every gimic available.

“GET YOUR SITE REVIEWED BY THIS BLOG FOR 5$!!!”

Is that the ‘content’ she is talking about because if it is, they better follow their own advice about “giving your readers a good user and reading experience” because theres NOTHING there that is worth reading unless you like looking at a bunch of shitty widgets stuffed onto a ‘tech page’ that is updated maybe once a week.

This is one of the problems with technology in the Caribbean. Instead of praising someone for attempting something new, they would rather criticize than fix whats wrong in their own house.

    Black people u seet!

At least this site has a better focus and actually HAS a social networking tool in place that it can take advantage of as the site grows.

Siliconcaribe and sites like that are a dime a million. When they start to do stuff like WIRED or the New York Times, then they can talk. Till then you know the saying : Empty barrel mek the most noise.”

  8. Looks good but the the FashionOverStyle.net text at the top (at the time of writing) looks a little grainy. Smooth it up a bit!

  9. I’m loving ur site, girl, do ur thang!!!!
