What Went Down at Miss Jamaica Universe?

Posted by Irie Diva On April - 13 - 2008

Details are sketchy but I do hear summn went down last night at MJU 2008 with star performer Miss Keyshia Cole. Unfortunately I couldn’t be there, I think I need an intern! However that won’t stop me from getting the juice for y’all. But hey, the show is all about the beauties and not the star they got to bring up ticket sales right? So who won? We’ll get to that in a minute. This year Pulse stepped their game up twenty-fold, landing sponsorship with Worldwise Partners and Stewart Motors to giveaway a brand new BMW and a million dollars worth of cold hard cash, that’s about US$14g for my non-Jamaican folks, plus a bevy of additional prizes. I wonder what my dear friend and outgoing queen Zahra Redwood thinks of this upgrade? Zahra "neva get no car!" We’ll soon find out about that, but here are your winner and runner-ups. I went through the facebook group for the event and my friends and I thought that one of the runner-ups would have taken the crown for sure. Congrats to April, I envy your new ride!

What was all the controversy about? Only the typical J’can behaviour, ppl rushing down on the stage as soon as home girl stepped up there almost ruining the performance. Nuttn new right. And then of course later in the night ppl were most upset that the “long hair” girl won…when will we ever learn right?

  2. Lol! My people. Gotta love em.
To be honest, I wasn’t too impressed with any of them. The one I thought would win, though, was Doneika. I never even notice April in all of those media ads. :-/

Bwoy I wouldn’t mind that Beemer right now…or the million.

Long time asked question, but I’ll answer now since I was there. As usual, when J’mcan audiences don’t like who is selected, they make it known by leaving the crowning ceremony or booing. That was what happened. As for Keshia Cole, those who paid for their so-call V.I.P tickets didn’t get to see her performance unles they rushed to the front IN FRONT of judges in a disorderly manner or took off their heels and shoes and stood on chairs. Paying for a V.I.P. ticket meant that you probably missed most of the performance. Annoying, irritating, and many V.I.Pers kept seated, probably to make a statement that they would not act as disorderly as everyone else. Because Pulse’s security was so damn lax, a few idiots in the front were allowed to push and squeeze and somehow or the other some idiot girl ended up climbing onto the stage. Whether she was forced up there by a bulging crowd or because she couldn’t keep her damn hands to herself and not on Keshia escapes me right now. But ya know what, I won’t even blame the people. I blame Pulse for not doing a better job at making sure that things stayed in control.

About Me

HI! This is Irie Diva, a young Jamaican woman who graduated from the University of Technology, Jamaica with a business degree in marketing. She hails from the city of Kingston and knew from early out that she wanted to be in media or fashion but had a hard time finding a likable path into either industry. After working in several sales and entry-level business positions and one short-lived stint in fashion media advertising, she finally took the plunge of carving out her own slice of the pie, combining the two industries to create Fashion Over Style.
