The scarf has been an accessory trend for quite some time now but I never though I’d see it trickle down to Jamaica since well, scarves are basically used to keep your neck warm in the winter….and uhm…hello!!! Tropical weather? Always hot? Truly y’all I’ve seen some people rocking some real wool scarves and saying to myself their must be a rash under there brewing…
Most of us however fell in love with the trend and found lighter materials that add the sass but not the heat… I will admit, it’s a fun way to add personality and funk to what may be an otherwise neutral outfit. You can use it to add a pop of colour or a layer of texture or just to throw in an element of fun.

See what I mean? Against neutrals such as black, white and gray, they make it pop! Cute.
Here’s where I’m on the fence though……….

Mmmmmhmmm

I will be rocking scarves this december, I alreasy ordered mine. I know its hot in JA, (just like seeing ppl in hoodies and boots) but hey its real cute and what they say, fashion over style?
Uh-uh… not feeling this one AT ALL!
Not a fashion sense I would pick up for many reasons, most important one being Murphy’s law, anything that can go wrong will. And In this day and age that is just another added pierce of something that can be grabbed at the wrong moment in time. And with all the nonsense kidnappings going on in Jamaica now…………….nuh sah that’s just asking for trouble, kidnapper just grab yuh by yuh scarf!
i am in love with the scarf trend!!!!… n i will be rockin them!
I’m liking the trend somewhat too….Not fully there yet as i am also a practical individual..so the scarves and Ug boots and hoodies usually jus look funny to me as i’m always wondering “aren’t they roasting in there?”. I may rock one (the scarf) sometime in the x-mas period tho to some outdoor event in the evening where i KNOW it will be practical and fashionable!
The Keffiyeh (Arab looking scars) is cool… took some getting used to, but I see man like Ding Dong rock it wicked this summer… Voice Mail as well. Can’t see myself wearing it though.
alright…as far as scarves go- ive been wearing them ever since ive seen how lc (from the hlls) pairs them with a tank or a very plain tee to make it look cuter. and i have at least 3 other girlfriends who rock the look.
i DO NOt wear the heavy wool or other material that will choke u and give u a rash in the Jamaican heat, i go for the cotton ones that are either in a bright colour like topaz or turquoise, or a bright mustardy yellow is nice- as well as purple…and i also wear them in stripes and polka dots.
the rule i have for myself is to wear it loose like a chunky necklace rather than gather it about the neck- wearing it at night is also pretty useful when the morning starts to come in and things are a bit cooler
but i LOOOOOVE scarves – if worn right 9 for example, black skinny jeans, flats/sandals, a colourful PLAIN top and hair pulled back into a ponytail i find looks verry nice…ill send u some pics soon irie diva and im sure ull be fully converted
sooooo I have to confess
I LOVE SCARVES!!!!!!! just not wool ones… well not for Jamaica at least…
Scarves rock!… theyre funky, fresh and add a little pizzaz to everyday wear
yea man did scraves dem mad….well not da common ones dat all da dancer boi dem ave. i have a crazy ass grey and black skull one that i’m gonna beat in da christmas…..

As long as it aint da wool ones yo criss yow!!!!
I’m so glad to see scarves again. They have always been fashionalbe to me and a wonderful addition to any outfit to change teh entire look. I love it. Rock on…I got enough to last like ayear. lol–and that’s all I want for Christmas. Ok well I would like some tights too.
The truth is, i am sick of it, i realized that when i started seeing TOO MUCH of it here in Jamaica, something about our atmosphere or culture or style of dress that just doesn’t sit well with it, maybe its our swag, our swag here is more kerchief (the popular red and blue ones) and a white tee, and maybe its because it was rocked so much OUT OF SEASON = summer, scarves which of course are thick or semi-thick in the tropical weather doesn’t really go that well. Personally too i think the hip hop or pop world is a bit behind, because my boy Pharrell(aka Pha-real) BEEN killing the scarf side of life but then that’s fashion, always have somebody ahead of the pack.
Where locally can I get mine??!! Feeling this one yea!!
I going try this one during Christmas.A silkish looking one tho…bright colour too.
I LOVE THE SCARF TREND…..i’m in PA at school and i will be returning with my scarves!!!!!
It’s cold in NYC so scarfs are a must….but I like the trend!
