Irie Diva addresses the cold…

Jan 20th, 2009 | By Irie Diva | Category: Shop Jamaica, Style Talk

This here has got to be a laugh…If i go to a party too high in our tropical Jamaican hills, then I’m freezing! The cold is not Irie Diva’s friend! So what do I know about dressing for the cold? Not a darn thing I tell yah…but when my fashion friends call from the cold…I come a running! I do love a cute pair of boots and stylish peacoats…and I do wish our climate was more of maybe a Miami…where I could get away with wearing these items a few days out of the year because yes, I do own a pair of boots and I do own coats…hey, I love the look! I’ve left scarves and gloves and definitely earmuffs and hats alone….for now ;)

But my fashionista friend Jubba did write to me about her hair and cold crisis and after addressing more familiar teritory of the hair problem immediately, I’m back, ready to tackle the cold. First, I refer you to Angie, a stylist by trade and someone who is much more familiar with the cold. In this article she’ll tell you the rules of fitting a coat properly. So I went over to Nordstrom to check out what they have…and I picked out these for yah…One that looks really warm and cuddly, one thats long and sophisticated and would fall back perfectly to a KILLER pair of boots, one very flirty black and white one (loves it!) and one that pops with colour…a gorgeous fuschia colour, which you will be seeing alot of this spring (take my word for it)

That black and white would look HOT with a bright yellow or mustard handbag btw…work it out

And now on to the BOOTS…there was only one place to go…Christian Louboutin! The man’s shoe game cannot be denied…and these two…simple as they are…are killing it!

Of course, who can afford Christian??? Its a recession! These Colin Stuarts are much more pocket friendly and are pretty sweet too! Saw them here if you interested.

Of course all these high heels look a little tricky to walk in when trudging through snow…if thats you’re case…then these Juicy boots look ten times better than a pair of Uggs!

Or maybe these Stella McCartney ? Hey…a girl can dream… (they’d look SO hot with mustard or lime green long dress coat!)

P.S. If you’re in Jamaica and need a coat…I have this one available in the Irie Diva store…very chic! Msg me if you want it! And check out the store to see what else is in stock .

  1. Finally, someone acknowledges that Uggs are NOT cute!!!
    THANK YOU :D

  2. The black and white is ok, more on the casual side, the puffy coat might be the warmest, but not cute, every year i see the designers try to make them look a bit more fussed up, with little bows or added puffs. (they are just horrible looking)
The long black coat, can be quite heavy and expensive depending on the designer, i still find it a bit old England though, i still walk down the street and see old ladies in London rocking them ( and they have had them for at least seventeen years)

Th other coat on the other hand is quite trendy, but not sure it works with all shapes and sizes, however since i am i London i can post the link to a page with not just this seasons, but also great prices.

The boots you can find on that site too or here

because kitten heels boots are not really good for the snow ( ice, slippery, therefore a really hard fall) get boots with some grip the lower the better, save the kitten heels for spring.

  3. Actually due to the said recession things are actually cheaper in some cases. Increase in sales to entice shoppers to buy (Especially at high end clothes stores) I recently purchases a pair of Christian Louboutin for a special one from Neiman Marcus – which incidentally was having a store sale.

  4. I too love boots, but every time i wear them out, i don’t know if it’s my complexion or what but people tend to stare like I’m some hooker or something. But i luuuvvvv booots all the same.
