Altitude Series 8: the fashion statement…let me help you out there

Mar 23rd, 2009 | By Irie Diva | Category: Fashionable Events

Party over here! This Saturday is the eighth installment of Altitude dubbed GALtitude i.e. "the girls dem party" because well, pretty women flock to this party for the good vibes, good music flowing drinks and great locale. And where pretty women flock, pretty boys are bound to follow :) so let me help you out a little bit in the wardrobe area.

See…I find that whenever a party goes with any kind of fashion theme, people go berserk! We overdo it, trying to incorporate ALL the latest trends and biggest brands and 9 times out of 10 we end up looking the FOOL. So what I’m going to do here is allow us to learn from example. Before I show you a few of the newest trends and tell you to run with it, lets take a look at some good and some not so good examples of what people dub as fashionable.

I like home girl in the black, white and pink. You know I love a pop of colour. The pink buttons, pink shoe and pink bracelets are nice. I like the shape of the dress a lot as well, it accentuates her curves well. The overall look was spoiled for me because of the gold pearls and gold clutch that she carried, I would have much preferred if these were silver. No word on the disco loving friend but hey, she’s rocking the long strap .

Again Latonya Style brings us simple fab. I love the all silver look. Her friend in the blue, I am REALLY feeling the dress. I actually like the centre ruffle as it adds even more dimension to what is an already cute dress. I like the black and silver shoe but I am not liking the bag choice. Love the effort of a pop of colour but I am not like the choice of colour. What colour do you think would go well with her outfit?

Dancehall diva Keva cleans up well in this outfit. You know I love the poufy skirt and the colours on the top mesh well together. I love the hat, very Carrie Bradshaw but I would have loved it more if it were all black and as much as there is yellow in the top, I’m not feeling the yellow shoe. Maybe its the shade of yellow? I would have preferred pastel yellow or turquoise or pink or orange…I think. No not orange, turquoise or pink.

Two classic styles. The ladies above didn’t try too hard to be trendy but went for style instead. I really like the structure of the blue dress and the shade is really unique. She paired with silver accessories all around, classic style. The black and white is very refreshing. I am not a fan of the style of shoe but she works this look well. Her eyeshadow is gold, I do hope she wasn’t carrying a gold bag.

Turquoise and yellow…can’t go wrong. But if the shoes were yellow the look would have been all wrong for me. Try not to match your clutch and shoes, its a little played out.

Later this week I’ll show you a few looks that just never made the cut. "dem neva ready yet" Stay tuned for all the Altitude details and maybe even a ticket or two…you never know! BTW the most fashionable lady wins for herself a BLACKBERRY BOLD !!! Am I eligible? Hook a sister up!
