Irie Diva loves the Blackberry Storm

Or what they’ve told me about it so far…since I’ve yet to actually test drive one with my million applications loaded. This website here, I tell ya it has its perks. Like when I got the invite to the Blackberry Storm Launch in Jamaica, I thought, wow lil ol’ me? At a fancy schmancy media launch for a powerhouse blackberry? How coool. I wondered to myself "why on earth?" I mean I can go on and on about fashion and I do every week on this here blog, but can I actually review a blackberry storm? So yah girl went and schmoozed with the big wigs and held my own, cuz you know we can hang around these parts. And my new best friend VP Peter Gould said that while blackberries were initially launched in B2B markets, that has much evolved and 60% of blackberry users are now actually consumers, the layman like myself who just happens to be addicted to being connected.

Like duhhhhh. Who best to invite to your BB Launch than a girl who just happens to always have her bb attached to her palm checking the latest facebook updates of my friends, showing off my blog, checking email and twittering my life away while blackberry messaging my friends who are scattered all over the globe. I tell you I dunno what life would be like without my bb device and I never intend to find out. Of course, I can’t compare it to any other device out there, but I’m not sure that I really want to. I’m already SOLD. Then Pete, oh yeah we’re good like that, yeah Pete said to us that he’s gonna give everybody in attendance a BB Storm. WORD!?! Pete, you my man! My friend photog Ryan is still skeptical that we’ll actually get them in hand, but I know Pete won’t play with my emotions like that.

Now, when you’re going to a meeting, you do your research. Once upon a time google was the answer to everything and it still is, but if you want opinions more so than actual facts, you twitter it. So, I had heard about quite a few problems with the storm so I asked twitterland, is it really as hard to type with as they say? One reply said she got SEVERAL complaints about the storm, but she didn’t actually have one herself so I threw that one out. Another reply said hey, it takes practice, I’m at 35 words per minute on this bad boy! LOL sounds like fun. What sold me though was the video quality. They had a trailer on the phone for Babylon A.D (heeeeeeeeey Vin) and the audio-visual had me blown. Plus the storm screen is bigger than my ipod classic, so maybe I won’t even need to upgrade to the Ipod Touch! I’m not gadgety enough to need both.

I currently own the Curve 8320 and I just downloaded the twitterberry application to it so I can twitter on the fly. Thing is though, that freezes my phone often. When I asked the bb rep at our table what the internal memory is on my curve she said "oh wow…testing my knowledge here thats so old" Hey lady, my phone isn’t a year old yet you know! *pouts* Anyway she said it was about 192k which would explain why my phone freezes so often eh….the storm comes with 1gig internal memory!!! Twitterberry, here I come :D My only disappointment is that the storm doesn’t come with wifi…how backward is that? Thats all well and good here in Jamaica but if I plan to roam, then what? Note to self: keep my curve for roaming purposes!!! Ryan worried that he wouldn’t be able to play youtube videos on it because he heard that they don’t support flash, the networks here in Jamaica that is. Well, when we get the phone in hand I’ll let you know…but for now, Irie Diva is uber excited at the prospect of being a BB Storm owner. Way to go RIM!

So there you have it, in layman’s terms, what I think of the new BB Storm. I’m sure you can google around if I did in fact peak your interest and you want some hard techie facts, but hey I just think the thing is way cool! :)

  1. About two weeks ago, i was in mall and i saw it at a cell booth in the mall but sadly, i didnot get to test drive it but i love it. From the commercials, it was looking a bit big but in real…its not.
Took a pic of it with my current BB but by aug to dec, i am gonna upgrade for sure.

  2. I have test drive it my self and is still a bit iffy…how comes the upgrades of these techno gadgets dont come with the apps that the older versions have eg. WiFi? Common on now…

  3. I don’t like it, hard to type….

  4. I am not that big a fan either. Definitely wouldn’t buy it, maybe only if I got it for free.
